This 8-day journey through Yunnan was far more than a holiday; it was a deeply meaningful experience that combined cultural discovery, faith, human connection, and exceptional organization.

From the very beginning, the care shown by the tour team was evident. I arrived close to midnight on the first day and was checked in on to ensure I was comfortable and did not need food or assistance. That small but thoughtful gesture set the tone for the entire trip.

The tour leaders, Ibrahim, Ayesha (Vionna) and Yusuf, created an atmosphere of warmth and inclusion. Their attentiveness — from practical help such as assisting with visits to pharmacist, opticians to helping us haggle fairly for souvenirs — made everyone feel genuinely looked after.

The itinerary was beautifully balanced. We experienced iconic locations such as Dali Ancient Town, Erhai Lake, Baisha Ancient Town (a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the historic home of the Naxi people), Lijiang, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Tiger Leaping Gorge, and East Lotus Village in Weishan. Each destination was thoughtfully introduced, allowing us to appreciate not only its beauty but also its cultural and historical significance.

The visit to the Naxi silk embroidery historical centre was particularly memorable, showcasing extraordinary craftsmanship and preserving a living heritage. Jade Dragon Snow Mountain — famously referenced in Kung Fu Panda — was awe-inspiring, and the logistical planning around altitude acclimatisation, oxygen support, windproof jackets, and timing was exceptional. Despite the crowds, everything ran smoothly with minimal waiting.

As a Muslim traveller, the attention to faith needs was outstanding. Halal meals were consistently arranged, mosques were thoughtfully included in the itinerary, and prayer opportunities were respected and facilitated. Praying alongside local Hui Muslims, seeing mosques that blended Islamic faith with Chinese architectural traditions, and sharing meals rooted in faith and hospitality were among the most moving aspects of the journey.

One of the most beautiful elements of the tour was the emphasis on human connection. Communal dining, shared bus journeys, and quiet reflective moments allowed a group of strangers to quickly feel like family. The homestay in East Lotus Village was a highlight — from the joyful tuk-tuk ride around the village before dinner, to the BBQ meal, campfire conversations, and interactions with local children who were excited to meet us and gifted us small presents. These moments captured the sincerity and generosity of rural hospitality.

The tour company’s attention to detail extended beyond logistics. We were gifted thoughtful items including prayer mats, portable bidets, rain macs, and coffee sachets — small things that made a significant difference during travel and reflected genuine understanding of traveller needs.

Even the meals themselves became experiences — from halal Hui cuisine and hot pots prepared by local families, to the activated charcoal meal cooked from scratch at Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, and the final symbolic bowl of cross-the-bridge rice noodles in Kunming.

What truly sets this tour company apart is not just their professionalism, but their heart. They do not simply show you places; they create spaces for reflection, connection, and meaning. Faith, culture, nature, and humanity were woven seamlessly throughout the journey.

I returned home with a deeper appreciation for Yunnan’s Muslim heritage, lasting friendships, and memories that will stay with me for a lifetime. I would wholeheartedly recommend this tour company to anyone seeking a well-organized, culturally rich, and spiritually grounding travel experience.

From the moment we arrived, our guide was the definition of a responsible and proactive professional. Traveling with aged parents can be challenging, but our guide looked after them as if they were his own family. He was incredibly considerate—finding places for my father to sit while he handled all the queuing for buggies and cable cars, and always volunteering to carry the heaviest luggage.

As a Muslim family, we were so touched by the level of detail provided. Gifts from Manatravel i.e. sejadahs and a wudhu kettle, made our prayers seamless. May He continue to bless you and company barakah, amin! We visited local mosques and had various halal chinese styled meals, introducing us to a diverse and delicious range of local cuisines. Our guide is knowledgeable, kind, and witty. He shared fascinating history at every stop, took incredible photos for us, and accompanied us on every ride to ensure our safety.

Most importantly, there was zero hard selling or forced shopping—just pure sightseeing and culture. He also accompanied us shopping to deal with the vendors and introduced to us yak milk and other halal snacks – yummy!

To top it off, Manatravel surprised us with a cake at the airport to celebrate the New Year before our red-eye flight. Our guide stayed with us until the very last moment of departure. We left Yunnan with happy hearts and new friends. We will definitely be back and look forward to travelling with Manatravel again! 🤲🏻
